Sooji Dhokla (Suji – Semolina)
Dhokla is a quick and simple snack, normally it is made of rice and daal ( lentil) but this recipe is made of Sooji
Ingredients
- Sooji ( Semolina Flour) : 1 Cup
- Curd : 3/4 Cup
- Ginger : 1 piece
- Green chilly: 2 chopped
- Curry leaves: 7 or 8
- Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
- Sugar : 3 tsp
- Lemon juice: 1 tsp
- Salt : 1 tsp
- Eno’s Fruit Salt: 1 tsp
- Water : 1 cup
- Mustard seed : 1 tsp
- Coriander chopped : ¼ cup
- Oil : 2 tsp
Preparation Method:
- Combine Sooji, Ginger, Green chili, Curry leaves, turmeric powder, Salt, Sugar, Lemon juice and Curd in a large bowl.
- Whisk well and slowly add water and keep whisking for 3-4 minutes to achieve smooth, thick consistency.
- Add Eno’s fruit salt and whisk well till mixture rises.
- Pour the mixture in lightly greased dish.
- Heat water in a steamer big vessel.
- Place the pan in the steamer and cover it for 20 minutes.
- Remove from steamer and covered with cover for 5 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds till crackle
- Pour oil and mustard seeds over the Dhokla.
- Cut Dhokla into squares serve hot with fresh coriander leaves.
